Massimo, what shall we drink today?
In Italy we say
“Marzo pazzerello, aprile con l’ombrello”
(kind of “April showers bring May flowers).
In April, indeed, you never know what to expect from the Spring sky: sun, rain, even snow sometimes.
Not to mention the temperature – you could freeze if the sky is overcast, but when the sun comes out then it suddenly feels like it’s Summer.
Well, sure, you simply look around to realise it’s just the beginning of the warm season: the peach tree is in full blossom, the linden trees in our piazzale show their first buds, and from here you can enjoy a magical view of the Tuscan landscape in all its shades of blue.
Have you ever seen it like this?
The scenery with olive trees and their hue is so delicate, so calming to the eye.
And of course the walls of the hamlet, that are in the color of the sunset, catch fire at the first ray of sunlight.
It is in this unique atmosphere – which we worship as it already smells like a new season of arrivals, parties and friends – that we gathered to inaugurate this year’s big news:
the Wine of Montestigliano!
Casa Damiano is the perfect spot to spend a weekend in this moment of the year:
the fire is lit, the table is set sheltered from the ceaseless caprices of the sky.
We’re almost all here now: Luisa with Piero and Wellington, just arrived from Florence; Damiano, excited about his new Limoncello; Susan with Massimo the Winemaker, whose every word we hang on to to know more about the latest product of our beloved hill of Montestigliano.
Bruschettas are ready, Pecorino cheese is cut and fava beans are there to be peeled.
Come on, sit with us!
“Massimo, what shall we drink today?”
Our Montestigliano Rosé Wine
is perfect for an aperitif or alongside any kind of appetiser, from both land and sea.
Our favourite pairing is with Pappa al pomodoro,
a typical Tuscan vegan recipe to be eaten rigorously with the fork.
Our Montestigliano White Wine
is perfect with cold cuts and cheese appetisers and superb alongside any fish dish.
For your Spring Sunday meal we suggest to pair it with vegetable lasagne,
a very tasty vegan recipe!
That’s not all, but you have to wait for the end of the Summer for the next chapter:
Red Wine!
In the meantime, we can’t wait to see you in Montestigliano!
Dinners and wine tastings, this year, will be particularly special, and we look forward to hearing your feedback on our wines.
Please share with us your favourite pairings, photos and thoughts about this new fruit of our passion – it’s always great to hear from our friends around the World!
You can send us an email to info@montestigliano.it
or write us on Facebook or Instagram.
Hope to hear from you soon!
Tuscany is a magical landscape where everything around is gentle, ancient and new.
