Our food supply chain
Sit back and experience Tuscan life at Montestigliano. Stay with us in one of our beautiful Italian farmhouses surrounded by vast, peaceful Tuscan woods, eat in our very own restaurant serving traditional Italian cuisine, local produce, fresh vegetables picked directly from our veg garden and some of the best wines in the local area.
Here our guests can relax in their private villas, take a swim in the two swimming pools or go for a walk in the beautiful woods and countryside surrounding the estate. Discover numerous small hamlets, swim in the nearby river Merse and come home for a sunset barbecue. Each and every villa has a stunning view across the valley, a barbecue and an outdoor eating area. Alternatively, sit back, relax and let us cook for you. Our personal chef can deliver to your villa.
Siena is just a short 20 minute drive away, while only a little further afield are the famous cities and towns of Florence, San Gimignano, Volterra, Massa Marittima, Cortona, Arezzo, Pienza, Montepulciano and S. Quirico d’Orcia, all spectacular places to visit.
If you should crave a swim in the sea, in only an hour you can be enjoying sandy beaches at the coast and stop on your way back for a delicious plate of “spaghettino alle vongole” (spaghetti with clams) with a refreshing glass of Vermentino. In our restaurant we serve vegetables from our own organic, bioactive garden, we use only our very own award-winning extra virgin DOP olive oil, our selection of beers and wines are all from carefully chosen Tuscan producers and the meat from a local butcher.
At Montestigliano life is tranquil, a delicate balance between old and new. We are powered by solar panels, have our own water purifying system and support environmental projects, such as the building of a biogas plant for renewable energy. The farm produces wheat, corn and sunflowers, which are all organic. We are committed to being a sustainable, organic farm, caring for nature and our community.
Our olive oil has been awarded multiple times by the Regione Toscana (Region of Tuscany). You can buy it in our office and taste it in our restaurant. When you look out across the valley, just below the hamlet, you will see a sea of our 1,500 olive trees.
In 2018 we brought back the ancient tradition of winemaking and we are very excited to be able to share our wonderful, refreshing Montestigliano wine with our guests and the local community.
